Higher Purpose Co Awards $70K in Business Growth Grants to Business Members

Higher Purpose Co awarded over $70,000 in Business Growth Grants to 28 Black entrepreneurs, farmers, and artists as a part of the Higher Purpose Business Membership. HPC’s Business Growth Grant is designed to support the business members in all of their business endeavors. The recipients are allowed to use their funds towards their business in a way that will strengthen the growth of their business. The grant supports Black-owned businesses across Mississippi. Below is a list of 28 business owners who received the business growth grant. 

Ameka Coleman (Strands of Faith) – Strands of Faith (SOF) is a beauty and lifestyle company built upon faith principles. SOF formulate and create rich, handcrafted, non-toxic products serving multi-cultural hair types with an emphasis on hydrating, revitalizing, and moisturizing the strands to healthy hair. 

Deroll Barrett (Wilbar Services) – Wilbar Services, LLC is a workforce education and training company located in Jackson that specializes in programs that serve at-risk youth.

Stephanie Hendrix (Everlasting Love Childcare & Learning Center) – Everlasting Love Childcare & Learning Center located in Greenville helps with children in the age range of Infant Care and ages 1 to 5. 

Victoria Jones (ELJ Crafty Customs and Gifts) – ELJ Crafty Customs and Gifts provides a wide range of custom items, specializing in t-shirts, mugs, personalized gifts, and more. 

Bianca Foster (Girls 2 Women Academy) – Girls 2 Women (G2W) Academy provides unparalleled dedication and commitment to young girls and their variety of needs, passions and dreams. G2W is dedicated to community service, mentoring, and molding leaders

Brittany Hart (Halod by Hart, LLC) – Halod by Hart is a beauty and braiding bar located in Jackson, Mississippi. 

Laura Stubbs-Wright (Body in Balance) – Body in Balance is a chiropractic, rehabilitation and weight loss clinic located in Jackson that focuses on the natural and holistic approach to maintain or increase a person’s quality of life without the use of drugs or surgery.

Kiana Moore (Total Body Submersions, LLC) – Total Body Submersions, LLC, located in Clinton, offers tailored swimming lessons for children with disabilities. Its goal is to help drown the fear and swim independently with quality lessons. TBS also offer water aerobics for adults and children with disabilities.

Clara Butler (Clara Cartice) – Clara Cartice is a handmade beaded jewelry company. 

Kira Thompson (Classic Cravings) – Classic Cravings is a food truck company that sales comfort food with a twist. 

Ursula Johns (Small Town Fitness) – Small Town Fitness is located in Jackson and educates it clients on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Johnnie Vaughan (Herbaly Yours) – Herbaly Yours, located in Jackson, offer a natural way to encourage the body’s natural line of defense and cleansing metabolisms, with natural remedies for anxiety, capturing the true essence of blending specialty herbs.

Kendra Hair (Nacho-Mamaza) – Nacho-Mamaza is the first black female owned mobile taqueria in the Mississippi Delta that sales a variety of tacos. 

Terrence Walker (Terrifically Taken Photos, LLC) – Terrifically Taken Photos is a photography and videography company located in Cleveland. 

Anthony Holmes (Chessman Productions, LLC) – Chessman Productions, LLC is a broadcasting and media production company located in Greenville. 

Judita Robinson (Luciles, LLC) – Luciles is a carryout fast food restaurant located in Indianola.

Sheila Williams (Kidz Play, LLC) – Kidz Play is a learning facility in Clarksdale for children ages 5 to 13.

Bruce Ross (Ross Transportation & Logistics, LLC) – Ross Transportation & Logistics is a trucking company that provides general freight pickup and delivery in a timely and professional manner across Mississippi. 

Henry Green (Tasty Smoke, LLC) – Tasty Smoke, LLC is a barbecue catering company founded in 2018 that offers traditional and non-traditional barbecue menu items. Items range from smoked chicken egg rolls to birria tacos made with smoke brisket.

James Burch (Colemans Farm, LLC) – Colemans Farm, LLC is a 7 generation farm committed to keeping the legacy alive by retaining its land for future generations, and being good stewards of the land.

Tashanda Mosley (Two: Twenty-One Handcrafted) – Two: Twenty-One Handcrafted aims to allow the body, mind, and spirit to reset, rejuvenate, and renew.

Alicia and Hugh Robinson (Lush Health Drinks and Vegan Eats) -Lush Health Drinks and Vegan Eats is a vegan eatery in Greenville specializing in health detoxes, smoothies, fruit, veggie juices, and vegan meals that promote a complete lifestyle change in the way you eat and drink which allows you to live stronger and longer life. 

Reggie Pinkston (R&J Produce) – R&J Produces sales garden, fruit, vegetables, and pecans. 

Ebony Beals (Tousled & Teased Hair Lounge) -Tousled & Teased Hair Lounge, located in Ridgeland, is a place where beauty, hair, and nails comes with relaxation, conversation, and satisfaction. 

Alvin Dixon (3 Brothers Pharmacy, LLC) – 3 Brothers Pharmacy, LLC is a pharmacists store in Clarksdale that prepare and dispense medicinal preparations and/or prescriptions for a local patient population in accordance with federal and state law. 

Angelia Cleark McDowell (A Clear Mind) – A Clear Mind offers remote outpatient care to mental health consumers in Clarksdale.

Melinda Bell (ReBranded, LLC) – ReBranded is a restorative life coaching movement geared toward helping women redefine their identities through promoting holistic wellness.

Mary Gates (PFI ReSet) – PFI ReSet is an organizing coaching company that serves the Mississippi Delta.
