Clarksdale, MS 一 (March 27, 2023) Join us for a book signing and community discussion of “America’s Path Forward”, a collaborative project by Ashoka featuring Dr. Tim Lampkin, Higher Purpose Co, CEO & Founder. Lampkin discusses the future of economic justice, alongside other social innovators sharing their take on equity, democracy, and the economy. The event will be held on May 31st, at Meraki Roasting Co., 282 Sunflower Ave, Clarksdale, MS 38614 from 6 pm-9pm CT. Dr. Lampkin will provide and sign fifty copies of the book during the event.
“The United States is living through a period of polarization and upheaval. We hunger for answers, yet too often turn to the same people and institutions, expecting different outcomes. How can this be?”
“America’s Path Forward, published in February by Georgetown University Press, takes a different angle. It features award-winning social innovators from all walks of life with decades of experience of working in and with their communities across America. In twenty-two deep, idea-packed conversations, they share their analyses, practical insights, and policy recommendations—on how to gain common ground, get the country unstuck, and increase prosperity and well-being for all.”
“The goal for my chapter in this book is for everyone to reimagine the perception of Black people in the Mississippi Delta. The ability to create a hub and home to highlight the uniqueness of your community while providing much-needed resources is possible and we are seeing many examples across the country,” says Dr. Tim Lampkin.
Kim Davis, Senior Advisor, Walton Family Foundation will moderate the discussion with Dr. Tim Lampkin. This community event will provide open dialogue into the path forward in establishing a blueprint for economic justice and highlighting change agents.
“The book is an important reminder of just how many ideas across the country are already working and need our support. It’s easy to get mired in problems, dysfunction, polarization – but creative solutions are all around us, in the hands of social innovators like Tim and the Higher Purpose Co. community. Tim and the other innovators featured in the book help us all envision what’s possible and build pathways to get there,” says Michael Zakaras, Director of Ashoka US, and an editor of America’s Path Forward.
